It was almost nostalgic, seeing all the magicians around. It was like traveling with dad all over again, the man was obsessed with the trade. Ironic that his son grew up to do real magic.

So, we're coming up on Midsummer. It's a pretty important time in my world, but most people in my world don't really know that. How have you been feeling as the day approaches, Maeve? Oh, and how's the water goblet doing?

Harry Dresden's Combat Magic 101

You know it's serious business when I use the exploding sparkles.

I can't teach anyone that can't already do magic, but if you are able to do magic, I can show you how to use it to defend yourself. Even if you've already got some training, I might know a trick or two that will be helpful or know of a new way to apply what you can already do. That, and you might be able to do the same for me.

I'm not the most powerful guy in my world but I do tend to have a lot of people way scarier than I am try to kill me and I manage to survive. Sometimes it doesn't even involve screaming and running away.

So, if you're interested, just let me know and give me an idea of what you can do.

Alright, so I woke up this morning to discover my body covered in a black, scar like rash. Fantastic. Apparently this Materia flu or whatever it is can spread extremely rapidly. Willow, the apartment is safe to go into, it only spreads through direct contact and I'm not staying there at the moment so you'll be fine.

I think it would officially be warm enough to go to the beach now but after the earthquake I'm a bit concerned about tidal waves or giant squid or something similar. It once rained toads in Chicago, but that was about as crazy as it got. Messy, too.

It's weird that I can even say this, but it's good to be back in my own body again. I missed ducking under door frames, being able to do magic and... well, that's really the only major difference between my body and 90% of the rest of the male population of most worlds. The City doesn't count, because everyone here is an especially special snowflake.

What I'm curious about though, is if the deities were cursed or were just playing along? I know they can be affected but it would be interesting to know how susceptible to them they are.

So, yesterday was full of so-so green beer. Seems appropriate considering the holiday and the previous curse. I wonder if maybe all these curses are holiday themed and we just don't know the holidays or world they're from.

So, one of those "what could have been" curses? I think those freak me out the most because you can never quite be sure if it's you or the other person that's cursed. Then, there's always the chance that you'll like the alternative more than the reality.

If you've got an innate ability I can teach you to use it better. I've been here for a while and I've learned that a lot of the concepts, if not specifics, are consistent from world to world.
